Yet, remaining at home isn’t always an option, since many actually need to get food supplies, travel to workplaces, get medicines and other essential items.
Many of us have continued with our normal activities in recent months, returning to work and using our vehicles more, while others actually prefer to stay home.

Here are few precautions for you to take while driving during this pandemic.

1. Disinfect your vehicle –  Regularly disinfect your car door handles, gear knobs, and other high touch areas of your car —a simple rub down with alcohol-based sanitizer will do it all.

2. Use Contactless payments – Try making contactless payments at every possible place. Tolls, fuel pumps, drive-throughs and other places. This may reduce physical contact and hence chances of infection.

3. Avoid sharing ride – While you may avoid potential risk, no one can tell what lies ahead. However, if it gets necessary, at that point ensure that the individual going with you follow same safety precautions. Sanitize your hands while you get out and get in your vehicle and always wear a mask .

4.  Keep a good quality hand sanitizer in your vehicle – Continuously disinfect your hands while entering the vehicle before touching anything else. You can also use the sanitiser to disinfect your steering wheel, door handles, gear knobs, and air conditioning or music control among others.

5. Always wear a mask and a pair of gloves – Not only while driving but make it a habit of wearing a good quality mask the moment you leave out of your house which will protect you from getting infected.

It would be wise to use a disposable pair of gloves that you can easily remove before entering the car to keep your hands as safe as possible.
