CAR CARE TIPS IN WINTERS

There is no doubt, that a proper vehicle maintenance is of utmost significance all the year round but it’s especially important in the winter months. Winters leaves drivers more prone to mishaps, so make sure to always drive safely, which in turn is also the best way to maintain the condition of your vehicle.

 With the winters, comes new factors and troubles with a purpose to have an effect on your vehicle. So here are few winter car care tips to keep your investment protected and safe. 

1. Warming up your car – The first and foremost tip to keep your car protected during winters is by Warming up its engine. Its wise to warm up your car for about 5 – 7 minutes which will allow the oil to thin and flow like normal and lubricate all the parts of the engine, avoiding damage to various parts of your motor. Also always keep your car battery in good condition and charged. 

2. Check and replace the Wiper Blades – It is recommend to replace wiper blades as often as twice per year to improve the visibility on roads and avoid any mishaps.

3. Lighting – In the winters, the sun sets early which means that you drive more in the dark. Make sure that your car lights are in the best  possible condition. Use headlights of a high power that will brighten the road ahead for you and provide you with a easy driving. During the fog, you must ensure that your lighting are best and bright enough. More than your car headlamps, the foglamps play a more important role in driving smoothly through the fog.

4. Tyres and tyre pressure – If you think your tyres are to be changed, it’s suitably a good idea to go ahead and get a new set. If you have low profile or trendy sport tyres, you may need to replace your summer tyres with the winter ones which will provide more grip to your car specially if you are traveling to hilly areas where roads are covered with snow.

5. Antifreeze /coolant –  It is of prime importance to keep a check on your car’s coolant as it avoids the engine to get freezed in dropping temperature. Make sure there aren’t any leaks from where your coolant might be draining.

6. Check the heater and defroster – Before it gets too cold to bear it is recommend to get your heaters and defroster checked to make sure that they are in working order. Defroster will keep your windows clear from icing up. It is crucial to maintain comfort and safety throughout the winter.
