5 Ways to prevent Car Theft

It is as difficult to purchase a car as to buy a home. It is very unreasonable that you have to live with the fear of your new car being stolen after you have gone through all the trouble of finding a suitable car and securing a car loan.

Our vehicles are the result of years of saving and a variety of sacrifices for all of us. Thus, it should be of primary importance to keep your vehicle secure and protected at all times.
The car is a huge asset and you don’t want any thief to put a hand on it. Here are tips to save your car from being stolen.

1. Always lock your car. –Even if you park your vehicle in your own garage, the best way to stop car theft is by simply locking your doors and ensuring that your windows are rolled up every time you exit your car.Unlocked cars are simple targets because there is no need for a thief to crack a window or waste time attempting to open the lock open or reach a lock button; we just open the door and get in.Many newer vehicles, however, are fitted with remote keyless entry or remote start capabilities. These will lock automatically until the signal from the key is no longer sensed by the vehicle. This also stops the keys from being locked in the car.

2. Park your vehicle in safe placesAnother critical part of avoiding car theft is safe parking. Park with as many people around as possible in well lit places. If possible, the parking lot or garage should be surrounded by CCTV cameras or security guards. Stick to parking in high-traffic, highly visible areas.

3. Gear/Steering Lock- . To have a steering as well as a gear lock for your car, a steering lock provides one more string layer of security.it is important. This method of security is widely used to safeguard cars that you do not drive much. Get high tensile strength locks to ensure that the steering lock itself does not break. Solid iron is made up of gear and steering locks and minimises the movement of the gear lever and steering. Therefore, he will have a very tough timing even if a robber manages to barge into your vehicle.

4. Use GPS tracker
In the past few years, GPS trackers have become highly accurate and affordable. The GPS tracker will send your car updates in real time on your smartphone. You can immediately inform the authorities in real-time about the location of your car in case of theft. When a GPS vehicle tracking device is installed in your car, you can then use computer software or an app connected to the tracker at any given time to locate your car. This will help police recover your vehicle if your car is ever stolen.

5. Don’t leave valuables inside the carNever leave your car with valuables such as laptops, bags / briefcases, purses / wallets or mobile phones or any other high-value object clearly visible. Using the glovebox or boot of the car to store the valuables as they can be the thief’s eye candy. He may just decide to go all the way and take your car until the robber broke a window for the valuables. Often, stop leaving substantial documents in the car.

Hope, above-mentioned points, will help in keeping your vehicle safe and secure.

ILLEGAL CAR MODIFICATIONS IN INDIA – which can make you pay heavy fines!

Today car modifications have became so popular that the moment a person buys a new car, it is straight away taken for modification works to enhance the look of the car and I frankly saying, I am one of those who is crazy about modifications and mostly this craze is getting bigger and bigger among the youth nowadays. We want our cars to stand out from the usual crowd. This includes a variety of aftermarket accessories such as alloy wheels, loud music systems, fancy interiors, bright powerfully headlights, loud exhausts and much more.

There are a number of car modifications which can be crowd puller but there are also some some modifications which can make the cops attract and can be the reason for you to pay hefty fines!
So here are few illegal car modifications which can land you in trouble –

1 Fancy number plates – If you do not have HSRP (High security number plate) Number Plate and / or Colour Coded Sticker then get it fast for your vehicle as soon you may be fined for not having same in your Vehicle. Many car owners as a part of car modifications use fancy number plates with designer font styles because of which if stopped by the police they are liable to pay fines.

2.Tinted glass (Black film) –
In order to enhance the look of the car, most car owners apply black films on windows which is illegal in India. As per law and rule, 100 of Central Motor Vehicle Rules (CMVR) acts 1989, the glass of the windscreen and rear window of your car should have a minimum visibility of at least 70%. For side windows side windows a minimum visibility of 50% is required. If this is not followed, then one is liable to pay the challan for the same.

3 Load exhausts – Aftermarket exhaust is favoured by enthusiasts as it sounds perfect’ with louder noise levels. Louder exhausts cause noise pollution and can serve as a significant distraction for other road users. Any aftermarket exhaust or other alteration shall be considered illegal unless approved/passed by the RTO.

4 Pressure horns – All the stock horns in the vehicles meet with the government standard. Yet aftermarket horns and pressure horns are very noisy and cause noise pollution. If you have an aftermarket horn mounted, always check the decibel level. Pressure horns are not legal in India as they are too noisy and can cause other roadside disruptions. The government has claimed that the horns cannot be louder than 100 decibels to reduce the noise pollution caused by car horns.

5 Bigger and wider Alloys-
One of the most common modifications seen on cars today is the fitting of aftermarket (fancy) alloy wheels. There is no argument that having alloys in your car makes it look bolder and enhanced, but modifications such as larger tyres, larger alloy wheels (which deviate from the manufacturer’s specifications) are not legal. One may change the tyres in affordable vehicles, as the manufacturers typically sell different types of tyres for base and top models.
